The Gallery in the Grove 2008 Show Schedule

The Gallery in the Grove is a fine art gallery run entirely by volunteers. Our artists are juried and we hold 9 exhibitions a year. The gallery is closed during July, August and December. Shows run for 3 weeks with the opening usually on the first Sunday of the month. Gallery hours are  Monday – Thursday from 11 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 11am to 3 pm. We are located on the second floor of the historical Faethorne House in Wildwood Park on Hamilton Road in Bright’s Grove. The Bright’s Grove Library is on the main floor.

 

January 6-26      Robynn Cairns and Janet Harpley are recent grads of Georgian College’s Fine Arts  course. They are multi- media artists and their work is modern and bold. Robynn won second prize in our 2007 juried invitational show for her acrylic painting Why. This is their first show.

 

February 3-23    Beverly Fish is an established Wallaceburg artist who experiments in many different art forms. She won third prize in our 2007 juried invitational show for her moving and intimately scaled drawing, Victoria Underwater.

                        Donald Moorcroft of London is a photographer whose work expresses his love of nature and his fascination with form and patterns. Don won an Award of Merit in our 2007 invitational for his C-print, Dwelling in the Sunset.

 

March 2-22        Jean Poole is a painter from Corunna who works mainly in watercolours. She began painting as a young child and just in the last 5 years has begun painting seriously again.

                        Gwen Kitimura of Chatham paints in watercolours and acrylics and has shown her work at a number of Chatham-Kent galleries. 

 

 April6-26          Our Annual Elementary School Show featuring the work of young artists from 7 county schools. These schools all take part in our VALS ( visiting artists in local schools) program and much of the work shown was done under the tutelage of these artists.

 

 May 4-24          Geraldine Cosgrave from Pennsylvania ,formerly from Sarnia,  is a pastel artist and a Signature member of the Pastel Society of America. She won an Award of Merit for her pastel Tinged with Gold in the 2007 invitational.

Nora Roberts of Lakefield paints in oils, acrylics and watercolours. She won the People’s Choice Award for her oil painting Home Sweet Home at the 2007 invitational.

 

June 1-28          The Sarnia Quilter’s Guild will display a number of quilted works by many different quilters.

 

September 6-25 Patty Therrien who paints in oils and acrylics and Karen Dickson who paints in acrylics are friends from Sarnia. This will be their first show together.

 

October 5-25     Regina Gudelis is a watercolour/mixed media artist and sculptor from Bright’s Grove.

                        Oriole Munro paints in all mediums but prefers watercolours and pen and ink drawings. She lives in Point Edward. Both Oriole and Regina have exhibited at the Gallery in the Grove

 

November 2-22   Kirsty Kilner-Holmes  is a jeweler, Tammy Schmid is a fused glass artist and Peg Kivi is an artist who works in many different mediums. All three are from the Sarnia area.
