TO PRINCIPALS AND ART CONTACTS                                                             January 29, 2010
Re: Kaleidoscope of Art 2010

Gallery in the Grove will celebrate 30 years of bringing creative, elementary school art to the community in April 2010 at our annual school show.  We are delighted that the following schools will be participating in this exhibit:  Aberarder Central, Brights Grove, Cathcart Blvd., Confederation Central, Errol Village, Gregory Hogan and St. Michaels.

Show Opening:           Saturday, April 3 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Show Duration:           Saturday, April 3 till April 24, 2010
Gallery Hours:             Monday to Thursday:             11:00 to 5:00.  Saturday: 1:00 to 3:00.

Please Note:  The opening will be on the Saturday of the Easter Weekend as we wanted the show to run for 3 weeks. The Gallery will be closed on Easter Monday, April 5.

Students from JK through Grade 8 are invited to exhibit their work. Though the VALS program was not offered this year we are confident that classroom teachers will provide a variety of student art to display in the Gallery.

The maximum number of art works for display is fifteen (15) per school and all art forms are welcome. Pieces for wall display are to be framed, wired and ready to be hung.  A collage, mural, etc., created by a class group is considered as one piece. Identifying labels MUST be attached to each piece.

To facilitate intake and pick up of art works, we would like to remind all schools that Gallery personnel will transport the art from each school prior to and at the conclusion of the show. (See October letter from Mary Blenkhorn)
Pick up March 29/30 at the end of the school day. We suggest the art be left in the office/front hall. Return of same April 26/27.

Inventory Lists:
Inventory lists MUST accompany the art pieces presented by each school on the pick up days.  We request that these lists be typed, clearly indicating student’s name, grade, teacher and title of the work.  If typing is impossible PLEASE PRINT CLEARLY. This will ensure that no piece is misplaced and no student goes unrecognized.

Included in this package are copies of the Inventory List and the Identification Tag sheet for your use.  Electronic versions (MS Word) of these documents are available on our web site at:

or by emailing me at the address below
If you require further information or have questions pertaining to the show, please contact me.  I look forward to working with each school community in support of the LKDSB arts curriculum.

Sincerely,
Sheila W. Brown, Show Convenor
