I am a local artist primarily working in dry media on paper. I was born in Sarnia Ontario, and in 2009, I graduated from the University of Guelph where I majored in Studio Art. I am mostly recognized for my largescale charcoal (industrial) drawings which reflect an anxious world teetering between stability and chaos. These works have been exhibited at the Judith and Alix Norman Gallery and in Sarnia’s 2020 Dreamhome.
In this past year after experiencing a profound inner awakening, I began to view life from a new state of being. This beautiful shift in consciousness had a significant impact on my studio practice. No longer living from a state of fear, I began to feel lighter and drawn to bring colour into my work. My new drawings emit an expansive energy through their ephemeral and ethereal nature. In my work, a duality is often present. By bringing together geometric and amorphous forms, I am closing the gap between abstraction and representation. I am hoping this pulls my viewer into another dimension – one of no time and space. I look forward to sharing my new body of work and to see where this journey may lead. |
