Celebrate 45 Years of Art & Community!
It’s was a party under the tent at Gallery in the Grove on Saturday, June 21st, 2025. Local artists, volunteers, past scholarship awards winners, friends of the gallery and the local community gathered and celebrated arts and arts education. The organizing committee consisted of current, past and founding board members of Gallery in the Grove and wanted to celebrate the important contributions the gallery has made to Sarnia Lambton. “Becky Sheridan, one of the founding volunteer board members and other volunteers spent many hours out at the Lambton Room Archives to complete a full exhibition listing that begins in November 1980,” comments Kirsten Kilner Holmes, current board member of Gallery in the Grove. “The gallery has hosted over 362 exhibitions which in turn support the local cultural economy. Over fifty-five thousand people have visited and we are very proud of our history in supporting local, regional emerging and established artists and that also includes Sarnia’s own Chris Hadfield’s space photography,” adds Kilner Holmes. Guests dropped in for some hospitality, music by Tessa Catton and friends, viewing of scrapbooks and reminisced with artists, volunteers and friends. The West gallery space featured a collection of 16 of Chris Hadfield space photos that had been loaned for the day. Gallery in the Grove recognizes the contributions of many partnering organizations in the community that have supported arts education through our scholarship and VALS program which include Rotary Club of Sarnia Bluewaterland, Bright’s Grove Optimists, IODE Chapters, The Catherine Wilson Foundation and many individual donors. A special thanks to Foodland, Bright's Grove for donating the strawberry tarts, and Degroot's for the lovely flower centrepieces. |
