Travel Art by Wilma Mehl
Wilma Mehl @travelart_by_wilma_mehl Wilma is the artist behind Travel'Art. Born and raised in Frankfurt (Germany), she and her family moved to Sarnia Lambton in 2011. Although she always dabbled in various artistic endeavors, in 2020 she started to seriously pursue art. At that time she also took the challenge of teaching herself to paint with pastels. The immediacy of pastels, along with the luscious colors and textures captivated her. Her contemporary work is focused on local landscapes and seascapes. Wilma's work was part of several exhibitions, she displayed her originals & prints at local businesses and galleries. Living near Lake Huron makes seascapes a recurring theme and continuing source of inspiration. In September 2023, she won the Pane’s Choice Award at the Art Comp in London, Ontario. |

Shantell Lavigne
@shantellelavigne Shantell Lavigne is a local artist that was born and raised in London, ON. After graduating High School, she completed the Arts Program at H.B. Beal then attended Sheridan College for Illustration. After moving back to her hometown, she then met her spouse of 20 years and was blessed with five children. During those years, she painted portraits and taught herself how to sew costumes, quilts and clothes for her kids. When the pandemic hit, she started making masks to donate to the local schools, neighbors, family and friends. This then led her to opening a small business called "LAVIGNE'S" and embarking on a new journey for the future. In 2020, she moved to Sarnia and began exploring Art Festivals, Markets and other shows in and around the area. Her Instagram account allowed many designers to view her work, which then led to many opportunities for collaborations with fabric designers like Katarina Roccella from Art Gallery Fabrics and pattern designers like Suzanna McKeon from Hold It Right There Patterns. Shantell loves to use only the finest materials like 100% designers’ cotton, eco- friendly cork, vegan leather, Essex linen and high-quality hardware & zippers to create these unique “one of a kind” pieces. This would include bags, wallets, quilts, therapeutic wraps, key fobs, mug rugs, scrunchies and custom gifts for that personal touch! Her recent creations can be found on Instagram @shantelllavigne |
Grove Soap Co.
Liana Smith @thegrovesoapco Liana Smith is a busy wife and mom of three, who was inspired to create all-natural, handmade, cold-process soaps by her grandfather. She also had the desire to make children's soaps that were safe and natural for her own boys, which led to the creation of the Grove Soap Co. In creating her designs, Liana wanted them to be like small pieces of art in addition to containing quality, all-natural ingredients. This is done using the traditional cold- process method and natural colourants such as herbs and clays. Liana lives in Bright’s Grove and is also a Mental health counsellor who works with children and families. She enjoys painting and all-things creative in addition to making soap. |

My Art by Joelle
Joelle Mayer @myartbyjoelle Located in London Ontario, Joelle is a self taught artist working in acrylic paint. Art began at the early age of 4 yrs old when her art was selected for her school board's Christmas card. Her learning journey involves many online courses and workshops. The formal part of her education is Veterinary Technology with several years in medical research, IT support and data analysis. Having a technical background and a deep desire to learn new things has permitted Joelle to create her own unique style in bold loose artwork. Joelle has participated in several art events, having sold artwork online and in galleries. “I enjoy creating in bright beautiful bold colours. My focus is semi-abstract still life done in a lovely loose brushstroke style. Taking a light-hearted approach using curves and counter curves drawing inspiration from the elements of nature and everyday life. I relish letting go of the formality to see what may transpire which each painted layer, playing with colours, values and contrast to evoke the feeling of lightness (or darkness) as they emerge on the canvas. The imperfect look and feel of my loose style lets your mind complete the image, involving the art lover in the artistic process.” |
