Belonging is the first retrospective of renowned Red River Métis artist Rosalie Favell, showcasing a powerful curated selection of her lens-based works from 1982 to 2024. This exhibition celebrates Favell’s groundbreaking photographic practice—from seminal series like Living Evidence and Plain(s) Warrior Artist to her expansive archive Facing the Camera—which invites us to bear witness and explore the complex themes of identity, empowerment, same-sex desire, community and the nuanced search for belonging through a lens that is both deeply personal and subtly subversive.
Boring Earth: spontaneous gift
Curated by Darryn Doull
spontaneous gift centres on nature spirits as an active presence in urban ecologies and the flows of material and energy that sustain them. In transcending the limited understandings of non-human entities as being destined for either extraction or conservation exclusively, Boring Earth expands relationships beyond a resource-based exchange. The exhibition invites plural and otherwise ways of being, thinking and acting that re-weave the material and the spiritual, and enchant everyday practices of living in urbanized places.

Neon Canada: The Art of Electrified Glass
Neon Canada features the work of Canadian artists working with neon lighting. The exhibition explores the historical uses of neon as commercial signage through contemporary text-based artworks as well as the innate sensory qualities of traditional hand-bent neon. Through bold colours, a subtle flicker of light, and gentle hum, the neon artworks create a multi-sensory experience that reinforces the evocative nature of this increasingly rare artistic medium.
Permanent Collection Reinstallation
This Fall, the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery will launch a reinstallation of our Permanent Collection exhibition in the Douglas Wright Gallery. This long-term exhibition will highlight a selection of works in ceramics, glass, and enamel from the Gallery's more than 1,500-piece collection.
Verdant Strata: Faith Layard
Verdant Strata features Faith Layard’s luminous exploration of nature in flux, transforming lush landscapes into enduring enamelled forms. Rooted in close observation and reverence for the environment, Layard translates the vitality of flora, fauna, shifting landscapes, and organic rhythms into richly layered surfaces of glass and metal.
New Acquisition: Chihuly Chandelier
Be amongst the first to view a significant new addition to the Gallery's permanent collection: a monumental cobalt blue hand-blown glass chandelier by internationally renowned artist Dale Chihuly. Set to be installed in mid-September, this new acquisition will be a centerpiece in our Tower Gallery.
