Meet the Instuctors

VALS Art Instructor Susan Perry teaches perspective.
Perspective drawing is an optical illusion because the image represents something 3D on a 2D format. By thinking of simplifying forms to geometric shapes, considering eye level and the viewers relationship in space to the form, all students are successful at creating this illusion. We begin by throwing (drawing) geometric shapes above, below and on our eye level before starting our interior room study. Some students choose to keep their drawings in pencil, others use black markers to enhance their lines and some add colour as well. Although we work together through the activity, each drawing is unique.
